For immediate release:
Denver, CO- Jon Jon & Co. is at it again. Jon Jon & Company, Denver's premiere comedy boutique is elated to announce three new shows that will be cast and showcased in 2016. Jon Jon Lannen, owner of the company, brought aboard new, fresh talent to bring the comedy division to another level.
The comedy division at Jon Jon & Co. has hired an executive producer to look over the three comedy shows. The new executive producer has been named as radio personality and pageant veteran Laurie Pierce. Laurie Pierce was an integral piece to the Jon Jon Happy Hour, acting as the show's producer for two years.
Jon Jon Lannen created andCo improv a few years ago and has had some notable directors such as Sarah Kirwin, Jared McBain and Meredith Winfield. Now, in its fourth season, Jon Jon is back as the ensemble's Director. andCo's primary focus will be corporate events and seminars in 2016. On top of andCo, Jon Jon & Co. brings on an all-gay-and-lesbian improv ensemble, Gaybies and an experiment long form group, LoCo to the Denver comedy landscape. Gaybies will be directed by LGBT performer Ashley Scroggins and LoCo will be directed by former Bovine Metropolis Theater's PR Director, Joshua Robinson. The thing that sets Jon Jon & Co. aside from most production companies is that the directors and performers are all paid- a rarity in the Denver comedy scene.
"Jon Jon & Co. is like a family style meal, everyone gets a scoop," says Gaybies Director Ashley Scroggins, speaking to the variety of shows Jon Jon & Co. offers. Jon Jon Lannen adds, "This is an exciting time at Jon Jon & Co. Just wait 'til you see what we create- I genuinely believe we will change the face of improv in Denver."
Auditions for all three comedy troupes will be held at Voodoo Comedy Playhouse on January 9th, 2016. Click here for audition reservation information. About the Ashley Scroggins: Ashley is a native of Colorado who has been performing her entire life. Her talents growing up ranged from vocal to instrumental to theatrical. She sang, played, and acted her way from elementary school through college. Ashley also has a passion for education. Although her love of teaching and learning has brought her to pursue a PhD that has not stopped her from performing. Ashley was introduced to improvisation at a young age playing alto saxophone in her middle school jazz band, but she really fell in love with the art form in her quest to learn more about vocal jazz. She has studied voice with both local and Grammy award winning artists, and has picked up some beat boxing skills along the way. Ashley found improvisational acting as a young teacher in Denver. She has trained with many local and national improvisers, and regularly plays on multiple long-form and short-form teams in the Denver area as she has for the past several years. Ashley does not limit her improvisational skills to the stage. She has had the pleasure of teaching improvisation to many of her middle school students, and she uses it in her work leading adults in professional development. She is grateful to begin her journey directing adults and looks forward to all creative collaborations to come. Ashley is a Jill of many trades who enjoys the excitement, adventure, and whimsy captured through the relationships only characters of an improvised scene can bring. Ashley Scroggins acts as Director of Gaybies.
